Our Guide to Buying A New Bed
If your bed feels less comfortable than it used to, this is a sure sign that it’s time for a replacement. Ideally, you should replace your mattress every 7 to 10 years and even sooner if it’s no longer comfortable, leaves you tossing and turning at night or waking up with aches and pains. The fact is that the life of a mattress varies depending on the quality, how you take care of it, how you sleep on it and how often you rotate it.
The frame should be replaced at the same time if cash flow allows, as the two are designed to work together, a change of base will affect the feel and performance of the new mattress. Getting a good night’s sleep is important to everyone, when buying a new bed frame and mattress, it needs to be comfortable and supportive and you should invest in the best your budget allows.
Check the dimensions of the bed before you make your purchase. Bed sizes are not necessarily standardised and while it may have a name you recognise, such as King or Super King, it’s worth checking the exact measurements to be sure, particularly if the mattress and the base aren’t from the same manufacturer.
Before making your choice, make sure the mattress and bedframe you chose have the correct amount of support which will ultimately depend on your weight, size and preferred sleeping position.
